Hey, it’s Universal Kirtan time this Saturday, Nov. 1st! All Saints Day indeed! We are delighted and blessed to have Nathen Aswell with the band again this month, along some of our very talented regulars: Greg Valou (hang drum & percussion), Nenad Jankovic (tabla), Reuben Prensky (percussion), Chloe (violin, poetry) and myself doing what I do :-). Saturday Nov. 1st @ 8 pm, Yoga on 7th, 156 East 7th (just west of Main Street, alley entrance). $15 to $20 is the requested donation amount, no one turned away for giving less.
We are fundraising for SEVA Canada this month, a non-profit service organization with whom we have a long and blessed relationship. Their work in sight restoration and blindness prevention in developing countries is amazing — If we raise $500 this week, that donation will translate into 10 of our fellow human beings having their sight restored in surgeries in Seva eye-camps. We can do it!!
Also, don’t forget that we offer Thursday Evening Gatherings each Thursday at “Tansen” (4464 James Street, Chloe & Amir’s home). These are evenings of spiritual conversation, teachings, music, prayer, sometimes zikr, always refreshments afterwards. There is no charge, but we welcome contributions to the refreshments and/or the donation box for our centre. These gatherings start at 7:30, usually end around 9:30 or so. Tonight, I continue my series on Graceful Passages, a course to help us better navigate the bending river of our life’s journey and transitions, and maintaining our sacred connections amidst life’s ever-changing and unfolding dance.
Most weeks I send out a reading in preparation for the study material for Thursday Evening gathering. If you’d like to be on that list, please let me know (you don’t have to attend the gathering to benefit from the readings…).
