Please join us for the 2013-14 season opener! As always, we will bring our beautiful energies together for spiritual celebration and Unity, through songs, chants, poetry and friendship.
More than ever, as intolerance and xenophobia swell throughout the world, we are called to honour all faiths and communities and promote understanding and kinship. This month’s proceeds will be donated to a wonderful organization (The Abrahamic Reunion) which gathers together representatives from the four religions in Israel to walk arm in arm, pray with one another and be exemplars of peace and harmony.
Our musical volunteers this month include Greg Valou (bass & percussion), Ingrid Cheung (flutes), Charles Cohen (percussion & synth) Nenad Jankovic (tabla), & Chloe O’Loughlin (violin).
It’s our last Universal Kirtan until Sept.13th (note the odd September date for your calendars) — and we’re going to have a fantastic celebration of love, music, creativity, friendship and soulfulness!
Last June we did a night of ‘covers’ (Rock standards with a spiritual twist), so for contract this year for the season finale we’re doing Amir O’Riginals. This was a request from those near and dear, so their wish shall be granted. Songs and chants with my musical compositions and arrangements.
Please join myself, Chloe O’Loughlin, Greg Valou (on percussion & bass), Reuben Prensky (percussion) and Nenad Jankovic (tabla, percussion). We’re raising money for Seva Canada for their splendid work in eyesight restoration in developing countries such as Nepal, Cambodia and Tanzania.
$20 suggested donation, $10 – $15 for those on limited incomes, no one turned away for lack of funds.
The Caravan of the Heart is the Vancouver centre of the Sufi Order International. The goal of the Caravan is to promote love, harmony, and beauty using the teachings of Sufism and Hazrat Inayat Khan.
We have weekly classes on Sufism, monthly dedications to peace (kirtan/zikr), and monthly Dances of Universal Peace. Please explore our website and contact us if you have any questions. We would love to see you at one of our gatherings.
Shanti, Shalom, Peace
